René-Pierre Azria



Mr. Azria launched Tegris LLC in January 2008. Prior to founding Tegris, Mr. Azria was a Global Partner with Rothschild worldwide and headed the Telecom practice of Rothschild in the United States.

Prior to joining Rothschild in 1996, Mr. Azria had founded Blackstone Indosuez in 1987 and managed it until 1996, He was during that period of time President of Financière Indosuez Inc. in New York. Prior to joining Banque Indosuez in New York in 1985, Mr. Azria had started his banking career with the bank in Tokyo, Japan in 1981. During over 30 years in Corporate Finance in North America, Asia, and Europe, Mr. Azria has enjoyed extensive advisory experience, generally in transactions of large size and a high degree of complexity. Mr. Azria is a generalist banker and speaks several languages.

Recent experience at Tegris includes executing about $24 billion worth of complex transactions resulting in the recapitalization and listing of the 8th largest UK life insurance group, Pearl Group (now Phoenix Plc), the restructuring of Spain's largest media and entertainment group, Prisa, and the bringing return to the public equity markets (NYSE) of Burger King Worldwide.

Assignments have covered M&A, restructurings, financings, defense, IPOs, fairness opinions, privatizations and renegotiations of complex liabilities. Mr. Azria is a Director of La Martinière Groupe, a leading French publisher of fiction and illustrated books, and chairs its US subsidiary Abrams, Inc, publisher of the famous series "The Wimpy Kid". He is also a Director of Phoenix Group Plc, the London Stock Exchange listed specialist closed life business in the United Kingdom, and sits on its Risk Committee.

Mr. Azria sits on the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee (AJC). He is a member of the AJC's Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, and Africa Institute. Mr. Azria received the AJC's Herbert H. Lehman Human Relations Award in June 2010. Mr. Azria sits on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Museum in New York.

Mr. Azria holds an M.Sc. degree (magna cum laude) from Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (France), a Bachelor of Mathematics from University of Paris-Jussieu and an International Management Degree from London Business School and the Stern Graduate School of New York University.

Mr. Azria supports a number of charitable organizations, in particular Action Against Hunger and the Southern Poverty Law Center.
